Bryan Mills é um ex-agente do governo, que deixou o emprego para que pudesse passar mais tempo com Kim, a filha que teve com sua ex-esposa Lenore. Ele passa então a trabalhar com antigos colegas, realizando serviços leves de segurança particular.
